The QMotion System  

The combination of using the QMotion motor assembly with proprietary ​technology and our patented counterbalance springs allows for the most desirable roller shade on the market.  Two power options; battery and hardwired and three communication options; wireless control using QMotion proprietary or ZigBee H.A 1.2 technology and hardwired control using Cat5e or Cat6 wires are available

Battery Motor

QMotion battery automated shades are powered by an internal pack of standard D-cell or AA batteries depending upon shade size. The estimated average battery life is two years, dramatically reducing maintenance cost and adding convenience. (Shade size, usage and installation environment determine actual battery life.)

QIS Motor

Qadvanced Intelligent System (QIS) Hardwired Roller Shades use standard off-the-shelf Cat5e or Cat6 cable for both power and communications.  The QIS motor also comes with the option to control the shades wirelessly using ZigBee H.A. 1.2 technology.   NOTE: Do NOT use Power over Ethernet (PoE) or any Ethernet wiring or powering scheme. This will damage the shade motors and void the warranty.

Low Voltage Motor

The Low Voltage shades use 22AWG/24V connector wires from the shade controller (MCA). Power supply and distribution box options are available.  The Low Voltage system is great for standalone applications where there is limited potential interference from other electronic devices for remote control.

​The patented counterbalance power springs are used in shade that are less that 10 feet (3 meters) wide and for shades wider that 10 feet (3 meters) the patented counterbalance torsion spring will be used.  The use of these springs allow for the benefit of having long battery life.

Gen3 Motors

​Uses the QMotion 3rd generation proprietary protocol, 1-way communication. Our Gen3 motors are great for stand-alone applications where there is potential interference from other electronic devices.  When used with the Gen3 Qsync  a stand-alone mobile app for iOS or Android smart devices is available.

​ZigBee HA 1.2 Motors

A ZigBee network is a self-healing mesh network that operates on 2.4 ghz.  Self-healing means that if there is a weakness in the network, the signal will find a new path. Within this network, you will have devices that can either repeat a signal or be an end device. The QMotion Qube will be setup as the gateway (coordinator) and Range Extender are considered routers (repeating) devices, and QMotion Qadvanced shades are considered end devices.

• Controls Qadvanced with ZigBee HA1.2 roller and honeycomb shades.
• Supports up to 32 devices per Qube, or 95 devices maximum per ZigBee HA1.2 network if using Range Extenders. 
   Devices are defined as Qadvanced shades and QdR remotes.
• Qube without Range Extender supports any combination of 32 shades and remotes.
• Qube with Range Extender - a Range Extender takes up one of the 32 positions; 2 range extenders = 2 positions.
• Qube must be plugged into a local WiFi router for programming, using the QMotion app with the Qube, and   
  controlling   the shades.
​• Once programmed on the Qube coordinator with your smart device and our app, shades can be controlled with your
​   smart device on any WiFi network through the cloud. Now you can control your shades from almost anywhere!


​Range Extenders

• Used to create a ZigBee mesh network as the extender is paired into the system.
• Works with roller shades powered by QMotion ZigBee technology.
• Use as many as required in an installation (refer to limits when used with Qube).
​• Please note - the original Range Extender may be used in a stand-alone installation, the RZ2 only works as an extender.



​QMotion Intelligent System (QIS)

The Qadavanced Intelligent System offers three methods for Shade Control:
• Hardwire control: Uses standard Cat5e or Cat6 cable for both power and communication. Controlled via hardwired wall switches.
• ZigBee HA1.2: Uses standard Cat5e or Cat6 cable for power. Wireless communication via ZigBee HA1.2 specification. 
​• RS485 Communication: Uses standard Cat5e or Cat6 cable for both power and communication.

​QIS Wire Adapter

​QMotion’s Wiring Adapter allows for pre-wired cabling to easily connect to QIS shades, resulting in simple and convenient access to roller shades powered by QIS motors without rewiring your entire system. This 6 inch adapter allows for the translation of communication and power without the added expense of proprietary cabling.
